On this day in 2011, Lady Antebellum was back on top of the Billboard Country Albums Chart with Need You Know. Lady A had just come off winning five Grammy Awards.

Despite the album receiving mixed reviews, it produced three number ones with “Need You Now”, “American Honey”, and “Our Kind of Love”. Since then the album has been certified 3x platinum by the RIAA.

The Grand Ole Opry Hosts Its Star-Studded CRS Show

On Wednesday night (2/22), the Grand Ole Opry hosted a star-studded show for everyone in town for the 3-day Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Nashville. The event was held in Omni Nashville Hotel’s Broadway Ballroom and included performances by Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Trace Adkins, Crystal Gayle, Chris Janson, LOCASH, Cam, Michael Ray, Chris Lane, Carly Pearce and Dailey & Vincent. To make the show more authentic, the Opry even transformed the hotel’s Broadway Ballroom with its signature barn backdrop and famous microphone stands.

Additional ACM Party For A Cause Details Revealed

Additional details and performers have been announced for the 5th Annual ACM Party for a Cause festival in Las Vegas on March 30 – April 2. Held in conjunction with the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards on April 2, the four-day festival will consist of a variety of events at different venues across Sin City and will feature performances by more than 50 country acts, including Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Stapleton, Dan + Shay, Lady Antebellum and more. Lady A Wants To Record A Taylor Swift Song

Given the success Little Big Town’s single, “Better Man,” has had so far, there’s little doubt that other artists are also interested in releasing a Taylor Swift-penned song to radio. One of those interested groups is Lady Antebellum, who recently talked to Billboard about the prospect of recording a song written by Swift. Hillary Scott said, “I mean honestly Taylor, call us. Like, we’re up for whatever. Let’s go.”

 

Charles Kelley said they’d probably want Taylor to pen “a nostalgic song” for them, but there’s something else they want, too. Kelley jokes, “I hope it would be No.1. That’s all I want. It better go No. 1 though. If we cut a song and it goes like No. 2, I’m going to be so disappointed.”

 

All-Star Don Williams Tribute Album Announced

Some of country music’s biggest stars have come together for a new album paying tribute to the legendary Don Williams. The album, dubbed Gentle Giants: The Songs of Don Williams, will feature artists such as Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Lady Antebellum and Chris Stapleton, performing some of William’s most iconic tunes. The 11-track album will be released on May 26, in honor of Williams’ 78th birthday the following day.

Tim McGraw And Faith Hill Pen Original Song For The Shack

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have written and recorded an original song for McGraw’s upcoming motion picture, The Shack. The couple’s new duet is titled “Keep Your Eyes on Me” and can be heard in the film’s first trailer, which premiered last week. The song is featured on the film’s official soundtrack, which also includes new songs from Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley and Brett Eldredge.

The new film is based on the William P. Young novel of same name and also stars Octavia Spencer, Sam Worthington and Graham Greene. The film will be released in theaters on March 3, 2017.

ACM Honors Performers Announced

Alicia Keys,Miranda Lambert,Chris Young, Dan + Shay and The Band Perry have been added to the list of performers for Tuesday (8/30) night’s 10th Annual ACM Honors.Also, Mike Fisher, Emmylou HarrisMartina McBride and Thomas Rhett will present at the ceremony taking place at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.

 

·       Previously announced performers include Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Cam, Toby Keith, Maren Morris, Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell, Keith Urban and hosts Lady Antebellum.

·       The 10TH ACM Honors is an evening dedicated to celebrating the special honorees and off-camera category winners from the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards.

·       Hosted by multi-ACM Award-winning group Lady Antebellum, the two-hour special will tape on Tuesday, August 30 at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, and make its television debut on September 9 on CBS.

ACM’s Merle Haggard Spirit Award

The Academy of Country Music (ACM) has announced the inception of the ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award. The award will be presented to an artist whose career reflects the integrity and steadfast spirit embodied by the late Merle Haggard. The inaugural ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award will be handed out at the 10th Annual ACM Honors ceremony to a recipient still to be announced.

 

·       Lady Antebellum will host the 10th ACM Honors, which takes place on August 30 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The ceremony will also make its television debut on September 9 at 9:00 PM ET on CBS.
