1984: Stephen Barker Liles is born in Palm Harbor, Florida. The inspiration for “Hey Stephen” on Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” album, he’s a founding member of Love And Theft, known for its 2009 debut, “Runaway,” and for its 2012 hit “Angel Eyes”

1981: The theme to “9 To 5” takes Dolly Parton to #1 on the Billboard country singles chart

1963: Drummer Keech Rainwater is born in Plano, Texas. He joins Lonestar, the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Vocal Group in 1996. The band scores such hits as “No News,” “Amazed” and “I’m Already There”

1954: Musician Glenn Worf is born in Dayton, Ohio. A multiple winner of the Academy of Country Music’s Top Bass award, he plays on several hundred hits by Alan Jackson, George Strait, Faith Hill, Toby Keith and Martina McBride, among others. In addition, he co-produces hits by Miranda Lambert and David Nail

1941: Ray Stevens is born in Clarksdale, Georgia. Though capable of serious recordings such as “Everything Is Beautiful” and “Misty,” he earns a reputation for his comedy efforts, including “The Streak,” “Ahab, The Arab” and “Shriner’s Convention”


 

Miranda Lambert Plays with Puppies During Q&A

Miranda Lambert recently sat down Buzzfeed to answer questions from fans while holding three adorable rescue puppies. In a new video released on Thursday (6/22), Miranda can be seen holding the adorable pups as she answered questions ranging from the worst thing her dogs have chewed on ( her Louis Vuitton purse) to who she’d like to collaborate with outside of country music (Beyoncé). June 13th: On This Day

On this day in 2011, Miranda Lambert and her girl-project the Pistol Annies signed their first recording contract with RCA records.

Ashley Monroe, Angaleena Presley, and Lambert would debut their group on the National Stage earlier in the year, on April 4th, on the CBS special Academy of Country Music’s Girl’s Night Out: Superstar Women of Country.

The trio would release their debut album, Hell on Heels, in August of the same year. Pistol Annies debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Country Album chart and with little to no promotion, the group also landed at #5 on the Billboard 200 Album chart.

 

More Performers Added to CMT Music Awards

The list of performers at the upcoming 2017 CMT Music Awards has grown with the addition of Kelsea Ballerini and Little Big Town to the lineup. The show will include previously announced performances Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett, with all-star collaborations by The Chainsmokers and Florida Georgia Line, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum with Earth, Wind & Fire.

Collaborations Announced for CMT Music Awards

Several all-star collaborations have been announced for the upcoming 2017 CMT Music Awards, including cross-genre pairings from Florida Georgia Line with The Chainsmokers as well as Lady Antebellum with the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire. The night will also include superstars Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood performing live together for the first time on any CMT stage.

 

·         These acts will join previously announced performers Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett from Nashville’s Music City Center on June 7 at 8 PM ET. Additional performers will be announced soon.

Miranda Lambert is Working on A New Feature Film

Miranda Lambert is teaming up with one of her longtime music video collaborators, Trey Fanjoy, to work on a new feature film titled Something in the Water. According to Deadline, Miranda will take on the role of the executive music producer to oversee the film’s music curation and will also write an original song for its soundtrack. YouTube sensation Grace Helbig has signed on to star in the new comedy, which follows five Southern women who challenge their men to a bass fishing competition. Production for the film will take place in Nashville later this year.

 

  • The project will mark the feature debut from director Fanjoy, who has worked with everyone from Taylor Swift to Keith Urban.
  • Some of Lambert’s Fanjoy-directed videos include “Kerosene,” “The House That Built Me,” “Vice” and “Somethin” Bad” with Carrie Underwood.

 

BREAKING: CMT Music Awards Nominees Announced

Brett Eldredge appeared on NBC’s Today show on Tuesday (5/9) to help announce the nominees for the 2017 CMT Music Awards. Keslea Ballerini, Thomas Rhett and Keith Urban lead this year’s pack with four nominations apiece, while Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Lauren Alaina and Luke Bryan follow closely behind with three nods each. Hosted this year by Nashville star Charles Esten, the CMT Music Awards will take place live from Nashville on June 7 at 8 PM ET.

 

  • Due to the Nashville Predators advancing in the NHL Playoffs, this year’s CMT Music Awards has been moved from the Bridgestone Arena to the Music City Center across the street.
  • Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett were recently revealed as performers at the show, with additional acts set to be announced soon.
  • Fan voting is currently underway at CMT.com and continues until June 5.

Performers and Host Announced for CMT Music Awards

The first round of performers at the 2017 CMT Music Awards has been announced and includes Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Brett Eldredge. Nashville star Charles Esten has also been named as the host of the fan-voted award show, which airs live from Nashville on Wednesday, June 7 at 8:00 PM ET. Additional performers, presenters and special guests will be announced soon.

 

·         Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, May 9, and fan voting begins the same day at CMT.com.

·         Esten announced the news with a video posted on Instagram Monday morning (5/1).
