Josh Turner Celebrates Big Opry Milestone

Josh Turner celebrated a career milestone over the weekend, taking the iconic stage at the Grand Ole Opry for the 150th time. Turner’s landmark Opry appearance was made even more special by the fact that two country legends were sitting side-stage for the occasion. In addition to The Oak Ridge Boys welcoming Josh to the stage, country icons Charley Pride and Randy Travis were also watching the special moment unfold from the wings.

Grand Ole Opry Announces CMA Fest Week Kick Off

The Grand Ole Opry has announced their star-studded lineup hitting the stage as they kick off CMA Music Fest Week with back-to-back shows on June 6. The two evening shows will include acts such as Carrie Underwood, Dustin Lynch, Del McCoury and Bill Anderson, with the kick-off celebration also featuring a free Opry Plaza performance by Parmalee earlier in the afternoon.

 

·         CMA Music Fest Week will also include previously announced performances by Blake Shelton, Steve Wariner, Trace Adkins, Charley Pride, Roy Clark, Oak Ridge Boys, Scotty McCreery, Brandy Clark and Sara Evans.

February 3rd: On This Day

On this day in 2009, Darius Rucker received a gold single for “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”. The song was Rucker’s first single from his album Learn to Live.

The song made Rucker the first individual African-American artist to chart a number one country hit since Charley Pride’s “Night Games” reached the top of the charts in September 1983.

More Legendary Performers Added To CMA Awards

The star power at the upcoming 50th Annual CMA Awards continues to grow with the addition of more legendary acts to the lineup.  Joining the star-studded lineup are 2016 Country Music Hall of Fame inductees Charlie Daniels and Randy Travis; former Entertainer of the Year winners Ricky Skaggs and Roy Clark and former CMA Awards host Clint Black. The new wave of performers also includes Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton, Thomas Rhett, Jennifer Nettles, Martina McBride and Dwight Yoakam, as well as multi-format performers Elle King and Pentatonix.

 

·       These artists join previously announced performers Alabama, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley, Charley Pride, Reba, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Garth Brooks with Trisha Yearwood.

·       The 50th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 2 at 8:00-PM ET on ABC.

July 28th: On This Day

On this day in 1971, Charley Pride recorded his #1 single “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin”. The song was released as the first single from his twelfth studio album,  Charley Pride Sings Heart Songs. 

The song was later Certified Gold, and would later be covered by the likes of George Jones, Alan Jackson, and Conway Twitty respectively.
