Keith Urban Makes A Surprise Hospital Visit
Keith Urban helped Musicians On Call (MOC) celebrate their 10th Anniversary in Nashville on Wednesday (2/1) by making a surprise visit to The Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial. During his visit, Urban serenaded patients and their families as part of MOC’s Bedside Performance Program, performing acoustic renditions of some of his biggest hits including “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” “Wasted Time” and “Somebody Like You.”
· Keith says, “The power of music to not only connect people, but to bring comfort into someone’s life is something quite divine. I’m very grateful to Musicians On Call for the good work they do and honored to be a small part of that.”
Brantley Gilbert Says Keith Urban Saved His Life
There was a time a few years ago when Brantley Gilbert’s struggles with addiction threatened to break him, but thanks to a conversation with Keith Urban, Gilbert found light at the end of the tunnel. Brantley opened up about his encounter with Urban during an interview with The Tennessean, revealing that the two had met at a rehab treatment center in Nashville only a few days after pancreatitis put Gilbert in the hospital. At the time, Brantley told everyone around him that he was ready to leave the facility, even if it was against medical advice, but they asked him to wait one more day because there was someone they wanted him to meet.
The next day, Brantley met with Keith – a former addict himself – and the two talked about addiction. Urban asked Gilbert why he was afraid of being a musician who doesn’t drink alcohol, and Gilbert told him that he didn’t think he would be as good at his job. Keith told Brantley that he had once had the same fears, but said he was actually a better artist because of his sobriety. And that was the moment Gilbert said everything changed. Brantley said, “If it weren’t for him, I don’t know if I’d be sober or be in this business anymore. I’d probably be dead.”

Keith Urban Explains Why He Dropped Out Of High School
With Keith Urban being the child prodigy he was, he knew that he wanted to pursue music from a very young age. At the time Urban was a teenager his path seemed so straight-forward that finishing the rest of high school didn’t seem to play into the cards. Keith would end up dropping out of school at the age of 15, and in a recent interview with The Arizona Republic, the singer says he has no regrets for doing so. In fact, when asked if ever thinks that he should’ve stayed in school, Urban says, “No. There were points where I wish I had quit sooner.”
