March 14th: On This Day

On this day in 2006, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller album was sitting on top of the Billboard Country Album’s chart. The album received critical acclaim, reaching number one the US Billboard 200 chart and being Certified Double Platinum by the RIAA.

Traveller was named Album of the Year at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards, received a nomination at the 58th Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, and a win for Best Country Album. The song

At the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards, it won Album of the Year, with the song “Nobody to Blame” also winning Song of the Year. Stapleton is the first artist to win album of the year, male vocalist of the year, and new artist of the year at the same award ceremony.

52nd ACM Nominees Announced

Keith Urban earned a pack-leading seven nominations at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday (2/16), including his seventh nod for the coveted Entertainer of the Year award. Following close on Keith’s heels is Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert with six nominations apiece, and Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw, who each have five. Hosted for a second consecutive year by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 2 at 8:00 PM ET CBS.

Additional ACM Party For A Cause Details Revealed

Additional details and performers have been announced for the 5th Annual ACM Party for a Cause festival in Las Vegas on March 30 – April 2. Held in conjunction with the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards on April 2, the four-day festival will consist of a variety of events at different venues across Sin City and will feature performances by more than 50 country acts, including Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Stapleton, Dan + Shay, Lady Antebellum and more. All-Star Don Williams Tribute Album Announced

Some of country music’s biggest stars have come together for a new album paying tribute to the legendary Don Williams. The album, dubbed Gentle Giants: The Songs of Don Williams, will feature artists such as Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Lady Antebellum and Chris Stapleton, performing some of William’s most iconic tunes. The 11-track album will be released on May 26, in honor of Williams’ 78th birthday the following day.

Performers Added To Dolly Parton’s Telethon

The list of performers at Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountains Rise telethon has grown with the addition of and Montgomery Gentry to the lineup. These artists join previously announced performers Parton, Reba, Kenny Rogers and Alison Krauss, who’ll take the stage on December 13 to raise money for the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund , which was established assist those affected by the recent wildfires in East Tennessee.

 

·       The three-hour telethon will air nationwide on numerous broadcast partners, such as AXS TV, RFD and The Heartland Network, as well as select on-air platforms, including Cumulus Media’s NASH Nights LIVE.

November 21st: On This Day

On this day in 2015, Chris Stapleton’s remake of “Tennessee Whiskey” surfaced at #1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. The song was originally recorded by country music artist  David Allan Coe for his album of the same name.

Stapleton’s version of “Tennessee Whiskey” would go on to be Certified Platinum by the RIAA.

November 4th: On This Day

On this day in 2015, Chris Stapleton won three CMA Awards, Male Vocalists of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year, for “Traveller” at the 49th Annual Country Music Association Awards.

This week, during the 50th CMA Awards, Stapleton took home the Male Vocalist of the Year and the Music Video of the Year for “Fire Away.”
