Pet of the Week: Manny

Hi, I’m Manny, and I’m a 2-1/2-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. I’ve transferred to the shelter and am ready to go to a new home and family as soon as you can get here to pick me up! I’m looking for an energetic type who can take me on walks and play with me in the bark park! I’m looking for someone to give me hugs and tell me secrets and sneak me a treat once in a while. I will be happy to return the favor with lots of kisses and a few licks–well, maybe a lot of licks!! I will greet you when you come home, and sit with you when you’re tired. Let’s make a life together–we are meant for each other!!

Mahaska County Man Wins $17,572.85 Progressive Jackpot Prize

CLIVE, Iowa – A Mahaska County man has claimed a $17,572.85 progressive jackpot prize.

Larry Shepherd of Fremont won the prize playing “Cherry Twist Progressive InstaPlay,” a $2 game. Cherry Twist Progressive is a progressive jackpot game where the top prize starts at $2,000 and grows with each ticket sold statewide until someone wins it.

Shepherd bought his winning ticket Friday at Casey’s, 203 E. Main St. in Fremont, and claimed his prize Tuesday at the lottery’s headquarters in Clive.

InstaPlay combines features from instant-scratch and lotto games and gives players a new option with no numbers to pick, playslips to fill out or wait for a drawing. InstaPlay tickets are “scratchless” because they have no security coating that needs to be removed to determine the prize won. And rather than having supplies of tickets printed in advance like those in traditional scratch and pull-tab games, InstaPlay tickets are printed on demand from the lottery terminal, as in lotto games like Powerball® and Mega Millions®. But the play style of InstaPlay tickets is similar to that of scratch tickets, with symbols and numbers that need to match in order to win a prize.

InstaPlay games range in price from $1 to $5. More details about how to play these games and the number of prizes still up for grabs in them can be found on the Iowa Lottery’s website, www.ialottery.com.
