On this day in 2009, Darius Rucker received a gold single for “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”. The song was Rucker’s first single from his album Learn to Live.

The song made Rucker the first individual African-American artist to chart a number one country hit since Charley Pride’s “Night Games” reached the top of the charts in September 1983.

Darius Rucker Records “Life On The Line” Theme Song

Darius Rucker has joined forces with British artist Fiona Culley to record the theme song for Life on the Line, a new motion picture that opens in limited markets across the country today (11/18). Culley and Rucker, who served as co-writers on the song, can be seen recording the track together in the film’s music video and trailer.

 

·       Starring John Travolta, Kate Bosworth and Sharon Stone, Life on the Line follows a crew of men who risk their lives to keep an electrical grid running during a storm.

 

Darius Rucker Weighs In On His Name Being Mentioned In Leaked Email

As the 2016 presidential election comes to a close tonight (11/8), Darius Rucker is weighing in on the recent news of his name being mentioned in a leaked email related to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. At the time the news broke, The Daily Caller reported that leaked emails from Clinton’s State Department staffer Capricia Marshall showed that she and a man named John Sykes asked figure skater Michelle Kwan and Big Machine Label president Scott Borchetta to convince Rucker to endorse Hillary.

 

·       Ultimately, Darius never publicly endorsed Clinton for president and in a recent interview with Taste of Country, he said he was “shocked” to find out his name had been mentioned in one of the leaked emails. Rucker said, “I’m just not in politics. It wasn’t that I’m not supporting this person or that person, it’s just that I didn’t want to get involved in politics, and here I am being brought in.”

The Seventh Annual Darius And Friends Benefit Concert Raises $197,000

Darius Rucker’s Seventh Annual Darius and Friends Benefit Concert and Celebrity Tee-Off Golf Tournament in Nashville last week were a huge success, raising $197,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its mission to fight childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

June 2nd: On This Day

On this day in 2014, the Fifth Annual Darius Rucker and Friends Benefit raised $120,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon. Darius was joined by Kenny Rogers, Eli Young Band and David Nail. Other performers include Cassadee Pope, Clint Black, Corey Smith and Thompson Square.

The Seventh Annual Darius Rucker and Friends Benefit will be held on June 6th of this year.

“Darius And Friends” Benefit Concert Planned For June 6th

Darius Rucker is set to host his seventh annual “Darius and Friends” Benefit Concert in Nashville on June 6th. Taking place at the city’s famed Wildhorse Saloon, the concert will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and is sponsored by A.O. Smith. The annual concert serves as the unofficial kick-off to CMA Music Festival Week which will be held June 9th – 12th in downtown Nashville.
