Country Stars React to Predators’ Win

After a thrilling game of hockey against the Anaheim Ducks, the Nashville Predators are heading to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history. The Preds finished the game 6-3 to win their Western Conference Finals series 4 games to 2.

On this day in 1999, Keifer Thompson and Shawna McIlwain got married in Nashville. The couple ultimately becomes country duo Thompson Square.


Thompson and McIlwain have released two albums as Thompson square, which together produced two #1 hit songs. “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” the duo’s first number one single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and has been Certified Double Platinum, while “If I Didn’t Have You” hit #1 on the Billboard US Country Airplay chart and is Certified Gold by the RIAA.

They welcomed their first child, Rigney Cooper Thompson on January 24, 2016.

March 27th: On This Day

On this day in 2011, Thompson Square was #1 on both the Billboard’s Country Songs chart and Mediabase chart with their debut single, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not”. The song was the first chart-topper for the husband and wife duo.

The song has been certified 2× Platinum by the RIAA and the band received two nominations in 54th Grammy Awards for the song in Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song.

June 2nd: On This Day

On this day in 2014, the Fifth Annual Darius Rucker and Friends Benefit raised $120,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon. Darius was joined by Kenny Rogers, Eli Young Band and David Nail. Other performers include Cassadee Pope, Clint Black, Corey Smith and Thompson Square.

The Seventh Annual Darius Rucker and Friends Benefit will be held on June 6th of this year.

Thompson Square’s Keifer and Shawna Thompson Are Expecting

Thompson Square’s Keifer and Shawna Thompson are about to turn T2 into T3. The husband-and-wife duo shared the news of a new baby on the way by posting a picture on Twitter that shows Kiefer holding a Diet Coke Can that says “Dad” and Shawna holding on that says “Mom.” The duo captioned the photo by saying, “Well… We have decided not to be a duo anymore!!!!!!!”
