On this day in 1999, Keifer Thompson and Shawna McIlwain got married in Nashville. The couple ultimately becomes country duo Thompson Square.

Thompson and McIlwain have released two albums as Thompson square, which together produced two #1 hit songs. “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” the duo’s first number one single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and has been Certified Double Platinum, while “If I Didn’t Have You” hit #1 on the Billboard US Country Airplay chart and is Certified Gold by the RIAA.

They welcomed their first child, Rigney Cooper Thompson on January 24, 2016.
