Eibach Springs expands contingency program for USMTS drivers

CORONA, Calif. (Feb. 5) — Eibach Springs will once again be rewarding USMTS drivers with an expanded contingency program for the 2016 racing season.

In addition to contributing cash to the various USMTS points funds, Eibach’s three-pronged contingency program for USMTS competitors includes more than seventy product certificates valued at $95 each to the 12th-place finisher in each “A” Main.

And once again, Eibach will award one set of springs each to the 2016 USMTS National Champion and USMTS Rookie of the Year.

The 2016 USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental will kicks off Thursday–Saturday, Feb. 11-13, at the Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad, Texas, followed by tripleheader weekends at the Heart ‘O’ Texas Speedway near Waco, Texas, Feb. 18-20; Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La., Feb. 25-27; and Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla., March 3-5.

Each show will pay $2,000, $3,000 and $4,000 to win, respectively, and will comprise the first dozen events in the expanded 17-race USMTS Production Jars Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.

Charles Kelley Focus Of “Police Investigation” In Spoof

Charles Kelley is the focus of a police investigation in a new hilarious spoof video that was released in support of his debut solo album, The Driver, which is out today. The video begins with a local Nashville news anchor telling people to be on the lookout for Charles. The reporter says authorities are interrogating several suspects who happen to be Darius Rucker, Hunter Hayes, Eric Paslay and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook.

USRA B-Mods Return To North Central Arkansas Speedway In 2016

FLIPPIN, Ark. (Feb. 5) — After a one-year hiatus, the North Central Arkansas Speedway is back in action again in 2016 with USRA B-Mods highlighting the track’s Friday night program.

“We are looking at having play days in April this year to give us time to get the track back into race condition,” said NCAS co-owner Charlotte Dwyer who, along with her husband, Ron, purchased the historic facility from the West family.

Drivers in the USRA B-Mod division will compete for lucrative track and national points funds in the USRA Weekly Racing Series while Late Models, Pure Stocks, Super Stocks and Hobby Stocks are also planned for 2016.

Located between Yellville and Flippin in the beautiful Ozarks of Arkansas, the North Central Arkansas Speedway is a 3/8-mile high-banked dirt oval located 2 miles east of SR 14 in Yellville on US 62 at 192 Summerwood Ln. in Flippin, Ark.

The Oskaloosa Chamber’s Tourism Committee is asking the community to help us find the most Simply Brilliant things in Oskaloosa so that we can share them with visitors and celebrate them in our community.

Single Vehicle Accident On Highway 63

According to Fire Chief Mark Neff, around 7:45 Thursday morning, the Oskaloosa Fire Department was called to a single vehicle accident on Highway 63, south of Oskaloosa.

An SUV collided with a bridge support and caught on fire. The Oskaloosa Fire Department was on the scene for around three and a half hours.
There was one fatality, with no names being released.
The accident is still under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

 

Shinjimasu Competitors Advance

OSKALOOSA — Members of Oskaloosa CrossFit OFC Shinjimasu classes competed at the Iowa Games held in Dubuque. The Iowa Games are held once a year and competitors achieving first, second or third place rankings can move on to national competition.

What is Shinjumasu?

Shinjimasu combines hard and soft fighting techniques, allowing practitioners to execute punches and kicks with great force. One key component
of Shinjimasu is the use of strategy, coordination, and momentum in self-defense.

Oskaloosa CrossFit OFC Sensei (teacher) Bobby Opheim entered ten of his students in the competition and all ten achieved first, second and third place rankings to move on to the national championship competition to be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan this summer.

“I am so very proud of the kids,” said Opheim. “And their parents.” “I have taught Shinjimasu for twenty-five years and these kids and parents
are some of the most dedicated to the sport.”

Following are the placings of the students at the competition: Jessabelle Opheim placed first in Kata, first in sparring and third in team; Bobby Ikaika Opheim placed third in Kata and first in fighting; Vincent Ramirez placed first in Kata and first in fighting; Jack Bunnell placed first in Kata and second in fighting; Josh Kirkhart placed first in Kata, third in sparring and third in team; Luke Abrahamson placed fourth in sparring and third in Kata; Regan Abrahamson placed first in Kata and third in sparring; Phillip Abrahamson placed second in sparring and second in Kata; Xavier Kemke placed first in Kata and third in sparring and Eli Fisher placed first in Kata and first in sparring.
