On this day in 2014, CBS aired “ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute To The Troops” with George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith, Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley and Merle Haggard. The ACM would later announce that a $650,000 contribution to ACM Lifting Lives, was made on behalf of the artists who participated in the taping.

Yang, Rule, Booton Take Home Scholar-Athlete Laurels
Oskaloosa–The A trio of Statesmen women’s golfers were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2015-2016 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Golf Scholar-Athletes Thursday.
Jing Yang (Sr., Woodland Hills, Calif., Biology) topped the list by owning a 3.86 Grade Point Average entering this spring. Alexi Rule (Jr., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Elementary Education) had a 3.77 GPA and Natalie Booton (Sr., Mount Pleasant, Elementary Education) had a 3.69 mark; the honor is the second for Booton.
The trio was part of a list of 160 women’s golfer to claim the honor.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.

Zac Brown Band Will Be The Subject Of A New Country Hall Of Fame And Museum Exhibit
Zac Brown Band will be the subject of a new exhibit heading to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum this summer. Opening on July 22nd, The Homegrown: Zac Brown Band Exhibit will run through July of next year and will feature stage wear, guitars, song manuscripts, photos and more from the band’s personal collection.
Sign Clocks Speed
OSKALOOSA — You might have noticed a new sign around town. Erected on Monday, just across the street from City Hall, a digital speed limit sign was placed on a lamppost to remind drivers to watch their speed.
“It gets moved around on request from the chief of police (Jake McGee),” said Community Services Officer Alex Sirovy. “It’s to make sure everybody notices the changes of speed limit when it goes into the business district. A lot of people think it’s 25 miles per hour through there; it’s actually 20.”

On this day in 2014, Luke Bryan’s singles “Drink A Beer” and “Play It Again” were both Certified Gold and Platinum by the RIAA. Both songs were off of Luke’s fourth album, Crash My Party. Both songs helped the album reach Double Platinum status.
Blake Shelton Discusses Oak Ridge Boys Doing Guest Vocals On His New Track
There’s a song on Blake Shelton’s new album, If I’m Honest, that features vocals from the Oak Ridge Boys. The track is called “Doing It To Country Songs.” Blake says the guys strived for perfection, “We finally had to go like, guys, it’s good, its good enough! I mean, you can’t get it better!’ Until finally it’s like, ‘Man, I’m tired! You guys nailed it on the second take anyway.'”
Two Days Left In Fan Voting For Sprint All-Star Race
NASCAR fans have just two days left to vote and give one of their favorite drivers a spot in the 2016 Sprint All-Star Race, which is scheduled to be run on Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The ballot includes thirty drivers not presently eligible for the non-points special event … led by Danica Patrick, who’s twice been voted in, and Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year candidates Ryan Blaney, Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott and Brian Scott.
Fans can vote once daily at NASCAR-dot- com/Sprint Fan Vote. Balloting ends Friday. The top two vote-getters will earn a spot in the All-Star Race.

On this day back in 1986, the made-for-tv movie Stagecoach starring Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and John Schneider first aired. The movie is a remake of the 1939 classic of the same name. Kris Kristofferson plays the Ringo Kid, originally played by the legendary John Wayne. Willie Nelson portrays the infamous Doc Holliday, while Johnny Cash plays Marshal Curly Wilcox and Waylon Jennings plays Hatfield, the gambler.
