July 5th: On This Day

On this day in 1991, Garth Brooks celebrated another Multi-Platinum selling album with his sophomore release No Fences.  The album was a cross-genre hit,  reaching #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and reaching #3 on the Billboard 200.

No Fences produced four #1 hits with “Friends in Low Places”, “Unanswered Prayers”, “Two of a Kind, Workin’ on a Full House”, and the “The Thunder Rolls”. The album was named Album of the Year by the ACM in 1990.

The album has since been Certified 17x Platinum.

May 20th: On This Day

On this day in 2014, CBS aired “ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute To The Troops” with George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith, Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley and Merle Haggard.  The ACM would later announce that a $650,000 contribution to ACM Lifting Lives, was made on behalf of the artists who participated in the taping.

May 10th: On This Day

On this day in 1995, Garth Brooks was presented with the Jim Reeves Award by the ACM for “Bringing Country Music to a worldwide audience.” Garth was entering 1995 after his album Pieces went number on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Album Charts. He also had finished up his Garth Brooks World Tour in October the previous year, which spanned 10 countries in less than two years time.

Darius Rucker Hosting ACM Lifting Lives Golf Classic For Fifth Consecutive Year

Darius Rucker will return to host the ACM Lifting Lives Golf Classic for the fifth consecutive year as part of the events surround the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas next month. The event will take place at the TPC Las Vegas Golf Course on April 2nd.

Chris Young takes part in ACM Sessions

Chris Young is the latest artist to take part in “ACM Sessions,” the online concert series featuring some of country’s biggest stars and rising talent performing their hits and participating in Q&A session.

Young’s episode was held at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, where fewer that 100 lucky fans were treated to his special acoustic performance.

Hunter Hayes on potential collaboration with Garth Brooks

Hunter Hayes​ is giving hints that he might have a potential collaboration with Garth Brooks​. Hayes will be performing at the ACM Lifting Lives benefit gala at the Omni Dallas Hotel on April 17, which will be hosted by Brooks.

Hunter told Entertainment Tonight, “We’ve got some fun ideas and I don’t want to put him on the spot, but we did talk about some fun stuff so gingers crossed everything goes well.”
