Rascal Flatts Didn’t Take Decision To Call It Quits “Lightly”

Rascal Flatts announced they’ll be calling it quits following their upcoming tour, and during a discussion at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville they insisted their decision had nothing to do with any trouble within the group.

“We love each other, probably more now than we ever did when we first started,” Jay DeMarcus shared. “We just got to this point in the road where it’s forking and we’re entering new seasons of our lives.”

He added, “This is a decision that we didn’t reach lightly,” noting, “It was a very tough decision and is going to be a very sad, bittersweet year, but it’s something we think is the best for our lives right now.”

The band’s final show is set for October 30th at Bridgestone Arena, and Jay insists that at least for now, it will be their final show. “We haven’t signed a pact to say we’re never going to work together ever again,” he said. “This isn’t a ploy to get everybody to come out, see this tour so we can turn around next year … there are no immediate plans to do any more Rascal Flatts shows past October 30.”

Glen Campbell’s Wife Opens Up About His Newly Opened Museum

The Glen Campbell Museum opened last week in Nashville, featuring a while host of Glen memorabilia. And while Glen’s wife Kim says it was hard to say goodbye to his stuff, she’s happy because now “everyone gets to see them.”

“I’ve had all this memorabilia in my house for 35 years,” Kim tells “People.” “The clothes were hanging in our closet. I always made a special place for the GRAMMYs.” She adds, “When I looked at my walls with all the gold records, I thought, they’re going to be gone. Glen’s gone … They’re going to be gone.”

In addition to memorabilia and artifacts, the 4,000-square-foot space on Lower Broadway also features videos, music and interactive displays. It even features Glen’s first ever guitar, which his father purchased for Glen when he was four for just $5. The museum also has a stage where singer, songwriters and more can perform.

And while it may have been hard to part with all of Glen’s stuff, Kim says the process of going through everything was healing for her. “I started going through all the memorabilia and realizing what an impact Glen had on so many lives,” she said. “It started bringing me some comfort and bringing some purpose out of the horrible time we’d just gone through.”

This day in 1987: Willie Nelson’s film “Red Headed Stranger” premieres

This day in 1987, “Red Headed Stranger,” a movie by Willie Nelson, premiered in Austin with Morgan Fairchild, Floyd Tillman, and Darrell Royal in attendance.

In the film, a preacher (Nelson) from the East arrives in Montana to spread the gospel. When his wife (Fairchild) takes off with another man, he straps on his pistol and seeks vengeance. Then he must find a way to redeem himself.

The studio originally wanted Robert Redford to play the “Red Headed Stranger,” a role Nelson had envisioned for himself. It took two years, but Redford finally turned the part down.

Red Headed Stranger began production on April 29, 1985. The main set, a western town nicknamed “Willieville,” had been built over the previous two years across the road from Nelson’s golf course, thirty miles west of Austin, Texas. Most of the filming was done in “Willieville,” but nine other locations around Central Texas were also used. Production wrapped on June 14, 1985.

Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Helps Shelters This Valentine’s Day

Miranda Lambert and her MuttNation Foundation did a lot to help animal shelters this Valentine’s Day, and so did her fans. The singer recently challenged fans to volunteer as part of her “Sign the Pledge to Volunteer” campaign, and her fans definitely came though.

Thousands of her fans volunteered their time at shelters, which allowed those shelters to be part of a drawing, with ten of them earning $1,000 grants. In addition, one fan, Andrea Shike of Wisconsin, won a grand prize of concert tickets and a meet-and-greet with Miranda.

“Shelter pets have the biggest hearts and I wanted to show them some extra love on Valentine’s Day,” Lambert shared. This year, over 2,000 MuttNation supporters joined the challenge, and I want to send out a huge ‘thank you’ to all of them.” She adds, “It’s amazing to have that kind of a response because shelters everywhere rely so heavily on support from their communities.”
