On this day in 1991, Vince Gill became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. That same year, Gill released his fourth studio album Pocket Full of Gold. The album reached #5 on the charts, and produced the singles “Pocket Full of Gold,” “Liza Jane,” “Look at Us” and “Take Your Memory with You.”

Brad Paisley made a surprise visit to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday Night (1/2) to honor one of his best friends, Opry star Little Jimmy Dickens. Paisley’s visit marked the one-year anniversary of Dickens’ death on January 2nd, 2015 at the age of 94. Paisley sang some of Dickens’ best known tunes.
On this day in 2010, Thompson Square made their debut on the Grand Ole Opry at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Today in 2011, Rascal Flatts became members of the Grand Ole Opry family in Nashville. The trio was asked to become members just a few weeks before surprising Gary Levox, Jay Demarcus and Joe Don Rooney onstage as Vince Gill presented the honor.
The Grand Ole Opry is joining Women Rock For The Cure in the fight against breast cancer on Tuesday, October 27th with its seventh annual “Opry Goes Pink” show. Kacey Musgraves will flip the switch on the Opry’s signature barn backdrop, turning it pink for the night as Musgraves and others including Opry Members Terri Clark and Montgomery Gentry perform in support of breast cancer awareness.
Grand Ole Opry members Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood made a surprise appearance at the Opry last Friday night (6/19). Yearwood told the sold-out crowd, “I didn’t have a chance to bring my band or call them or anything, but luckily I live with a Grand Ole Opry member, so if you all would make a welcome to my guitar player tonight, my husband, Mr. Garth Brooks!”
