Hunter Hayes drops new album tomorrow

Hunter Hayes is releasing a new album, and fans don’t have to wait long for it. In fact, the record, “Wild Blue (Part 1),” drops tomorrow. The record, his first in four years, will actually be the first in a trilogy, featuring the 10 songs on Part 1 either written or co-written by Hunter himself.

“I was originally going to put out the album on the anniversary of my debut album (in October) because I felt like I was picking up where I left off there,” he said on Today” when announcing the record, “but I decided I couldn’t wait any longer.”

Hunter actually recorded his album in his living room, and tells “The Tennessean” it had a big impact on the final product. “I had nothing keeping me from saying what I wanted, writing what I wanted, producing what I wanted,” he says. “I spent a lot of time writing as if the world was watching, and I decided to make a record as if no one was watching, and that helped me remove all my filters.”

Ernest Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984), nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song, “Walking the Floor Over You” (1941), marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music. In 1948 he was the first singer to record a hit version of Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson’s “Blue Christmas”, a song more commonly associated with Elvis Presley and his late-1950s version. Another well-known Tubb hit was “Waltz Across Texas” (1965) (written by his nephew Quanah Talmadge Tubb, known professionally as Billy Talmadge), which became one of his most requested songs and is often used in dance halls throughout Texas during waltz lessons. Tubb recorded duets with the then up-and-coming Loretta Lynn in the early 1960s, including their hit “Sweet Thang”.  Tubb is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Vince Gill Helps 94-Year-Old Fulfill Bucket List Item

Vince Gill helped make the day of one of his fans, who was crossing off a huge bucket list item when she recently went to his show in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Sarah Darnell, who is 94, traveled from Johnson City, Tennessee with her caregiver Savannah Rushing in order to catch Vince’s concert, where she held up a sign that read, “I’m 94. You’re on my bucket list!” Two songs into the show, security guards gave Sarah quite the upgrade, bringing the pair down to the front of the stage, with Sarah’s poster placed on the stage so Vince could see.

After fans alerted Vince to the sign he told Sarah that she was on his bucket list too, and when she yelled to Vince that she loved him, he replied, “I love you too, darlin’.”
