Midland Drops Acoustic EP

Midland just dropped a five-song acoustic EP, “Guitars, Couches, Etc., Etc.,” which they recorded remotely during their time in quarantine.

The album features stripped down versions of such songs as “Drinkin’ Problem,” “Burn Out,” and “Cheatin’ Songs,” as well as “Fourteen Gears” and “Fast Hearts and Slow Towns.”

“During the strange reality we’ve all found ourselves living in over the past few months, it felt medicinal to pick these songs back up and re-interpret them,” the band shares. “We hope you enjoy these new iterations as much as we did making ’em.”

On this day in 1998: Chely Wright goes to the prom

On this day in 1998, Chely Wright attended a senior prom in Altoona, Pennsylvania with a fan named David Showalter. Turns out the teen was tired of his mom bugging him to find a prom date, so he wrote to Chely and asked her to be his date — and she said yes! At the time, Chely noted, quote, “I happened to have the evening off, so I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll do it.’”

Brad Paisley Surprises Nurses At Vanderbilt Health

Brad Paisley honored some of the folks working on the frontlines of the coronavirus in a very special way. The singer made a surprise appearance during last week’s virtual Vanderbilt 2020 State of Nursing address, which was attended by over 600 nurses.

The Zoom event was part of Vanderbilt’s National Nurses week as well as the 200th birthday celebration of Florence Nightingale, the Founder of modern nursing.

“I’ve always had this feeling of reassurance that Vanderbilt is in our town,” Brad shared. “I don’t think many cities our size have something this fine-tuned and, I guess, exquisite.” In addition to thanking the workers for their service, Brad treated them to a performance of his latest track ‘No I In Beer.”

Morgan Wallen Arrested In Nashville

Looks like Morgan Wallen had a bit too much fun over the Memorial Day weekend. The singer was arrested in Nashville Saturday, and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

It all started when Morgan was kicked out of Kid Rock’s bar on Lower Broadway for “kicking glass items.” He then got into verbal fights with folks on the street, and while he cops in the area gave him “several opportunities to walk away” he refused, so they arrested him because he was “a danger to himself and the public.”

He later took to social media to “clear the air,” noting, “I went out downtown last night with a few old friends. After a couple bar stops, we were horse-playing with each other. We didn’t mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected.”

He added, “Thank you to the local authorities for being so professional and doing their job with class.” He is due in court on the misdemeanor charges in July.
