Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood don’t look anything alike, but Kelly says she was once mistaken for her fellow “American Idol” winner, and just played a long. The confession came during an “I’m Awesome At Being Awkward” segment on her daytime talk show, which asked Kelly, and her guests, Cheryl Hines and Michelle Buteau, what they would do in an awkward situation.

One situation asked what they would do if someone mistook you for another person, and Kelly shared that it happened to her. “This girl came up to me and was like, ‘Oh my god, your song ‘So Small’ is one of my favorites,'” Kelly said. “And I kept thinking, ‘I don’t have a song “So Small.” ‘ And then she said another song and I was like, ‘Oh, you think I’m Carrie Underwood.’ ”

Kelly continued, “And I literally look nothing like Carrie Underwood,” adding, “I was so embarrassed for her that I just…She was like, ‘Can you sign this?’ And I totally signed ‘Carrie Underwood.’ I think that might be illegal!”
