Joe Nichols is back. The singer has announced that his 11th studio album, “Honky Tonks And Country Songs,” is coming out October 25. The 11-track album includes Joe’s current single, “Bottle It Up,” as well as “Doin’ Life With You,” set to be released September 6. Also in the mix: Joe’s cover of Hank Williams Jr.‘s “A Country Boy Can Survive.” Of the collection, Joe says, “My job is to make people feel good. And sometimes that means with fun and happy songs, and other times with sad and sorrowful truths. But the goal is always to make them feel good. This album is meant to do exactly that. Everyone can find a good time in a honky tonk and a country song.”

NEW TOBY KEITH COMPILATION ON THE WAY

While it’s true that long time Toby Keith fans will already have these songs in their collection, the country legend’s passing has led to new fans (or younger country fans) discovering Toby’s catalog for the first time. To that end, a new compilation, “13 Number Ones,” is centered on Toby’s most iconic songs from between 1993 and 2005. The collection will be available October 4 in CD and vinyl formats. Also announced, a remaster of Keith’s debut holiday album, “Christmas to Christmas,” which originally came out in 1995. The new reissue will add a bonus track, Roger Miller’s “Old Toy Trains,” that Keith recorded for a Christmas compilation in 2000. “Christmas To Christmas: Remastered” also comes out on October 4.

- Today in 1977, Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” topped the country singles charts. The tune was from her album, “We Must Believe in Magic,” which was the first platinum album for a female country singer. The song also went on to be a Top 40 smash.
- Today in 1987, Randy Travis was hospitalized for complications from food poisoning in Wytheville, Virginia.
- Today in 1988, the Judds performed at a private luncheon for then-President Ronald Reagan and his wife.
- Today in 1990, Garth Brooks’ “No Fences” album was released. It’s since gone on to sell more than 16-million copies, making it one of the best-selling country albums of all time. In fact, the project held the record until it was unseated by Shania Twain’s “Come On Over,” which has been certified for sales of 18-million. Garth maintains his record for selling the most albums ever. To date he has sold over 105-million.
- Today in 1991, the “High Lonesome” album by Randy Travis was released.

Born in a Lexington, Kentucky hospital at 4:11 am, the baby weighed 8-pounds, 7-ounces. Here’s a fun fact — Madison’s middle name honors her grandmothers, who are both named Carol.
- Today in 1998, the work of the late Hank Williams got a triple honor, as the album, “Hank Williams’ Greatest Hits,” was certified platinum. “The Very Best Of Hank Williams” album was also certified gold and platinum simultaneously.
- Today in 1999, Shania Twain’s album, “Come On Over,” was certified for sales of 13-million. The album has since gone on to sell 18-million copies, becoming the best selling album by a country artist.
- Today in 2001, Reba McEntire began production on the first episode of her W-B sitcom, “Reba.”
- Today in 2002, the Dixie Chicks’ album, “Home,” arrived in stores. The project was the Chicks first major label release since coming to an agreement with their record label following a money dispute.
- Today in 2002, Montgomery Gentry’s “My Town” album, BlackHawk’s “Spirit Dancer” project, Elizabeth Cook’s debut album, “Hey Ya’ll,” and Sixwire’s self-titled debut album arrived in stores.

WYNONNA ANNOUNCES “BACK TO WY LIVE”

Wynonna is releasing a double-album, “Back to Wy: Live,” and it will be a rather unique live collection. The album will follow the same track listing as her first two solo studio albums, “Wynonna” and “Tell Me Why,” with all the songs from those albums performed in a live setting. Of the collection, Wy said, “I wanted to bottle up all of the memories we made on the Back To Wy Tour, so this live album is a gift from me…to you.” The album will be available both digitally and as a 2 LP 140-gram set. The collection drops September 6.

MIRANDA LAMBERT NAMED 2024 PEOPLE’S COUNTRY CHOICE AWARD’S COUNTRY ICON

Congratulations to Miranda Lambert – who’s been chosen to receive the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. She follows last year’s icon, Toby Keith, who was named the inaugural “Country Icon” at the very first People’s Choice Country Awards show. In a statement, Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment said of Lambert, “A tour de force in country music for more than 20 years, Miranda Lambert’s groundbreaking albums continue to capture the hearts of fans around the world. We’re so excited to celebrate her career, fierce individualism and innovation in the industry with the Country Icon Award.” Miranda will be honored at the 2nd annual People’s Choice Country Awards on Thursday, September 26 at 8 pm ET/PT, which will air live across NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
