Miley Cyrus revealed in a recent “Harper’s Bazaar” story that her godmother, Dolly Parton, jokingly claimed Miley’s ballad “Used to Be Young” was better suited for her. “[Dolly] goes, ‘I don’t know if I like that new “Used to Be Young” song because it’s not fair that you’re singing about not being young when you’re young and beautiful. And here I am—I’m like 80—and I’m like, *That should have been my song!’” Cyrus shared. While the song, a reflection on her youth, earned critical acclaim and a top 10 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, Miley admitted it was so personal that she briefly questioned releasing it, saying, “Maybe now that I’m a bit more private, I would’ve kept it private, but I’m happy to have shared it.” The track is featured on “Endless Summer Vacation,” which has garnered a Grammy nomination.
