Final Regular Season Wrestling Rankings Released

The final regular season Class 1A and 2A team and individual rankings have been released by thepredicament.com.   In Class 1A…Sigourney Keota is ranked 10th in the Dual Team rankings.  Individually,  Moravia’s Briar Cochran is ranked 2nd at 132,  Sigourney Keota’s Lane Boender is 4th at 145,  Zach Axmear of English Valleys is number 1 ranked  at 152,  Colton Massengale of BGM is 7th at 182,  and Noah Boender of Sigourney Keota is 6th at 195.     In Class 2A.. Albia is ranked 6th in the Dual team rankings but still top ranked in the State Tournament team rankings.  Aden Reeves of Albia is top ranked at 106,   Duncan McCain of Mid Prairie is 6th at 113,   Kyle Anderson of Washington is 9th at 132,  Bryce Leshen of Albia is top ranked at 145  while teammate Blake Lawless is 4th at 152, also PCM’s Wes Cummings is ranked 10th at 152,   Visouth Peterschmidt of Mid Prairie is 7th at 195,  Levi Duwa of Mid Prairie is 6th at 220 while Knoxville’s Travis Poffenbarger is ranked 8th,  and at Heavyweight Carter Isley of Albia is top ranked as he has been all season  while Brock Caviness of Knoxville is ranked 4th.   Isley and Caviness will both be competing in the same Sectional this weekend at Albia battling to finish in the top two positions,   Isley has beaten Caviness twice this season but both matches have gone the distance.

Big Weekend Ahead For High School Wrestling

It’s a big weekend for High School Wrestling in Iowa this weekend as Class 1A and 2A schools start the road to Wells Fargo Arena competing in Sectional Tournaments on Saturday.  In Class 1A…Moravia and Twin Cedars will compete at SE Warren…BGM, HLV, Lynnville Sully, North Mahaska and Pleasantville will all compete at Belle Plaine while Sigourney Keota, Cardinal, Tri County/Montezuma, Pekin, English Valleys and Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont will all compete at English Valleys.  In Class 2A…Albia will host a sectional which includes teams from Centerville, Davis County, Knoxville and PCM…Fairfield, Washington and Mid Prairie all compete at Mediapolis and Grinnell will travel to BCLUW Conrad.  All Sectional meets start at Noon Saturday and the top two finishers in each weight class will advance on to next Saturday’s District tournaments where the top two finishers in each weight will qualify for the State Wrestling Tournament. In addition, the top two finishing teams from each Sectional will advance to compete in Regional Dual Team meets with a chance to advance to the State Team Duals from there.

Pella Hands Oskaloosa Loss In Final Dual Of Regular Season

Despite winning just two contested matches Pella handed Oskaloosa a 42-29 loss in both teams’ final duals of the regular season last night.  It was also the final home meet of the season for Osky and parent’s night was celebrated before the dual got underway.  Osky started out hot winning the first four contested matches with three falls and a decision, however the Indians spotted Pella 30 points due to open weight forefits.   Tyson Breuklander at 195 won by fall in 5:53,  Callan Tomlin at 220 recorded a quick fall in :53 and Josh Diehl barely broke a sweat at 120 winning by fall in just :20.   Talon Munger earned a 7-1 decision at 126,   Drew Sams won by technical fall 16-1 early into the second period at 138 and Jason Beebe fought for a 13-9 decision win at 170.  Pella only won two of the seven contested matches as Ethan Speltz at 132 and James Van Gorp at 160 each won by fall.  Both teams have the next nine days off to prepare for their Class 3A District Tournaments on Saturday February 13th.  Pella travels to Johnston for their District meet where they will join Ankeny Centennial, Carlisle, Des Moines East, Des Moines Lincoln, Dowling Catholic, Indianola and Johnston.  Oskaloosa travels to Burlington for their District where they will compete against Burlington, Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Fort Madison, Keokuk and Ottumwa and Mount Pleasant.  Both meets start at Noon and the top two finishers in each weight class from each District will advance to the State Wrestling Tournament February 18-20.  You can hear live reports throughout the afternoon on February 13th following Oskaloosa and Ottumwa from Burlington plus we’ll bring you live coverage of the Championship round and wrestle backs to determine State qualifiers with Jamie Brockman and Brett Sams on 99.5 FM/740 AM KMZN as well as radiokmzn.com and the KMZN mobile app.

Reserved Seats Available For King Of America VI Presented By Chix Gear

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (Feb. 3) — All remaining reserved seat tickets for this year’s King of America VI presented by Chix Gear are now available to the general public.

All single-day tickets are general admission and will only be sold on the night of the races. Single-day tickets on Thursday and Friday are $20 each while Saturday’s show is $25.

Set for ThursdaySaturday, March 31-April 2, at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., the dirt modified mega-event will once again feature USMTS Modifieds and the Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA B-Mods with cameras and crews on location all three days to film the action for broadcast on MAVTV.

Officials recently announced that this year’s 100-lap USMTS finale on Saturday, April 2, will see the winner’s share increased to $12,000 with every other finishing position also getting a boost over last year’s purse with a minimum of $1,100 going to each main event starter.

Like last year, each driver will run four heat races from four different starting positions-two on Thursday and twoon Friday. Passing points will be combined for the best three of four heat races with the top 12 drivers in overall combined passing points from Thursday and Friday’s heat races locked into the first six rows of Saturday’s “A” Main. The balance of the main event field will come from the “B” Main.

Heat race winners both nights will pocket a $100 bill with the overall hard charger of the heat races pocketing $200.

Saturday’s program will feature last-chance races and an “alphabet soup” of main events that will culminate with a stellar starting field for the 100-lap championship race that will start three-wide. Even if a driver has some tough luck during qualifying, he or she still has the chance to climb the ladder of qualifying events on Saturdayto earn a spot in the finale.

The Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA B-Mods will run a complete show of heat races and main events each of the three days.

Thursday’s winner gets $600 with $75 to start. A whopping $1,500 awaits Friday night’s USRA B-Mod feature winner with each starter guaranteed at least $125. On Saturday, the show will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start.

There will be an open practice for all drivers on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Admission to the grandstands is free and pit passes are $20.

Every lap of every race every day will be broadcast live by RacinDirt.com.

The entry fee for Modifieds is $200 if received or postmarked on or before Feb. 21. The entry fee is $250 if received or postmarked after Feb. 21 but on or before March 13. The entry fee is $300 if received or postmarked after March 13 but on or before March 30. The entry fee is $400 after March 30 or at the track on race day.

For USRA B-Mods, entry for all three days is $100 if pre-entered by March 1. After that date and through March 29, the three-day entry fee is $125. Drivers can also enter for each day separately: Thursday $25 or $40 at gate; Friday $75 or $100 at gate; Saturday $50 or $75 at gate.

The 2016 USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental will kicks off ThursdaySaturday, Feb. 11-13, at the Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad, Texas, followed by tripleheader weekends at the Heart ‘O’ Texas Speedway near Waco, Texas, Feb. 18-20; Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La., Feb. 25-27; and Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla., March 3-5.

Each show will pay $2,000, $3,000 and $4,000 to win, respectively, and will comprise the first dozen events in the expanded 17-race USMTS Production Jars Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.

Charles Kelley Focus Of “Police Investigation” In Spoof

Charles Kelley is the focus of a police investigation in a new hilarious spoof video that was released in support of his debut solo album, The Driver, which is out today. The video begins with a local Nashville news anchor telling people to be on the lookout for Charles. The reporter says authorities are interrogating several suspects who happen to be Darius Rucker, Hunter Hayes, Eric Paslay and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook.

USRA B-Mods Return To North Central Arkansas Speedway In 2016

FLIPPIN, Ark. (Feb. 5) — After a one-year hiatus, the North Central Arkansas Speedway is back in action again in 2016 with USRA B-Mods highlighting the track’s Friday night program.

“We are looking at having play days in April this year to give us time to get the track back into race condition,” said NCAS co-owner Charlotte Dwyer who, along with her husband, Ron, purchased the historic facility from the West family.

Drivers in the USRA B-Mod division will compete for lucrative track and national points funds in the USRA Weekly Racing Series while Late Models, Pure Stocks, Super Stocks and Hobby Stocks are also planned for 2016.

Located between Yellville and Flippin in the beautiful Ozarks of Arkansas, the North Central Arkansas Speedway is a 3/8-mile high-banked dirt oval located 2 miles east of SR 14 in Yellville on US 62 at 192 Summerwood Ln. in Flippin, Ark.
