This day in 1965: Roy Rogers’ faithful steed, Trigger, died at the age of 33. In heartfelt tribute, Roy had Trigger mounted and put on display at the Roy Rogers Museum in California.

After sitting stuffed and mounted for more than 40 years in the museum, Trigger and Roy’s dog Bullet were sold to the network RFD-TV. RFD bought Bullet for $35,000 and Trigger for $266,000  at an auction in New York City.
