The CMA Award Nominations Are Here

Nominees for the 54th annual CMA Awards were announced yesterday with Miranda Lambert leading all nominees with seven, including a nod for Entertainer of the Year. Miranda’s new nominations extend her record for the most nods for a female artist in CMA history with 55.

Coming in close behind Miranda is Luke Combs, who earned six nods, including one for Entertainer of the Year and two for Song of the Year, and Maren Morris, who earned five, including Female Vocalist of the Year.

As for Entertainer of the Year, while past years saw no female nominees, this year’s there are two, with Carrie Underwood also recognized. This is the first time two solo women earned Entertainer of the Year nods since 1979, when Barbara Mandrell and Crystal Gayle were both nominated. As for the last time a woman won – that was in 2011 when Taylor Swift took the honor.

Meanwhile Miranda and Carrie’s Entertainer of the Year competition includes Luke, Eric Church and Keith Urban. As expected Garth Brooks did not earn a nod in the category, after announcing earlier this summer that he didn’t want to be considered this year.

As for some of the snubs this year, the female super group The Highwomen didn’t receive any nominations, and neither did Blake Shelton or Kelsea Ballerini (click here to see what she had to say about that). And after a six-year wait for an album, Sam Hunt released the new record “Southside” this year, but failed to get any nominations.

The 54th Annual CMA Awards are set to air live on ABC November 11th. Check out the complete list of this year’s nominees below:
