Sarge loves you already — and you’ve only just met him through a picture!
This energetic German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd-Mix was surrendered to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter as a puppy. He’s 14-weeks old and he’s looking for his forever home.
If you’re interested in meeting Sarge, stop out at SMAS and get a proper introduction – No appointment necessary! If you’re looking to adopt a doggo that’s a little bit older, don’t forget about the Adoptathon 2018 this Saturday at Penn Central Mall in Oskaloosa from 10 AM – 3 PM.
Groot is a male 1-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix that was recently surrendered to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter in Oskaloosa, Iowa. It’s hard to believe someone would give up Groot – he is the sweetest thing! He is a bit shy and needs you to earn his trust, but once he knows you’re good people, he’ll love you forever! ????
Sissy is a sassy 3-year-old calico cat who is ready to be the ultimate housecat in your home. She came to the shelter front-declawed and she is already spayed – so she’s ready for you to spoil her today!
Tito is approximately 3-years-old, and he is one of the most positive and upbeat dogs we’ve had in the station to date! Although he is so happy and seemingly carefree, we do know that being kenneled gives him anxiety, so he’ll need an understanding owner that won’t kennel him.
If you’re interested in bringing Tito home, contact Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter for more information. If you have other canine-companions, we suggest bringing them in for a “meet and greet” with Tito before you take him home with you. ????
Emma is a 10-month-old pit bull mix who came in as a stray a week ago. She gets along well with other dogs, but hasn’t been exposed to cats just yet.
She comes off as shy and timid at first, but we know she’ll warm up to the right person. Could that person be you? If so, stop in to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter to see if she would be a good fit for your home. ???? SMAS is located at 2299 235th St in Oskaloosa, IA. They can be reached by phone at (641) 673-3991.
With the help of the Mahaska Humane Society, SMAS cares for over 1,000 animals per year. They provide animal control services for the City of Oskaloosa, rural Mahaska County, and smaller municipalities that have signed contracts with SMAS. In addition, they also work to educate the community about responsible pet ownership through multiple community outreach programs and through their “Spay the County” program in which they offer spay/neuter assistance to low-income families within Mahaska County, IA. Though we are a small shelter, serving a rural community, we pride ourselves on having a progressive view on animal sheltering as a field as well as the ways animal welfare organizations are a value to the community.
Meet Taz, KBOE‘s Pet of the Week! She is a three-year-old Brindle/Pitbull mix available for adoption at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter in Oskaloosa. She does not do so great with small dogs or cats in the home, but she is quite the lover when she finds her “person”. Shy at first, she tends to warm up when she gets to know her surroundings and feels more confident after she’s had some time to get settled.
She was brought into the shelter with her friend, Igor. For more information on Taz or any other pet at the shelter, contact Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter at (641) 673-3991.
Lancelot is a 3-year-old polydactyl (which means he has extra toes!) who has been at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter in Oskaloosa since October. Polydactyl’s are also known as “Hemingway Cats’. He’s super snuggly, already neutered, and he’d love to meet you. For more information, stop into the shelter, visit their website, or give them a call at 641-673-3991.
