SARA EVANS INDUCTED INTO GRAND OLE OPRY

It seems unreal that a country star who first broke through in 1997 and had performed on the Opry stage dozens of times over the years, had still not gotten the invitation to join the legendary names of the Grand Ole Opry. As we told you back in August, after years of disappointment, Sara Evans finally got the call.

With ACM and CMA Awards, platinum albums and #1 singles, it seems a foregone conclusion that Sara would someday be invited to join country music’s most prestigious institution. But as years went by, Sara said Saturday night, she had “often cried” about not having yet been inducted. But those years of wondering when – or even if – that day would come ended Saturday night when Sara was inducted by country legend Crystal Gayle as the latest member of the Grand Ole Opry.

In an evening where friends, family and fans came to pay tribute and see Sara Evans finally get her flowers, the singer was often moved to tears as she received the greatest honor of her career. “I’ve put my stamp in country music for eternity and I’m starting to record a new record that might offer me another hit. It can’t get any better than this.”
