POWESHIEK COUNTY – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was killed by a semi truck in an accident in Poweshiek County last Friday.

The Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office reported that 47-year-old Jeremiah Martin Leifheit of Edmond, Oklahoma, died in the accident, which occurred at approximately 1:30 AM on Friday, July 10, on Interstate 80 near mile marker 198. The preliminary investigation from the Iowa State Patrol shows that Leifheit walked onto the roadway when he was struck by a semi truck that was traveling eastbound.

The investigation into this accident remains active.
