Ottumwa’s mayor is doing double duty. At a special city council meeting Friday (8/23), Ottumwa Mayor Tom Lazio was appointed interim city administrator. This after city administrator Andy Morris turned in a letter of resignation earlier in the day. You’ll remember Morris was placed on administrative leave this past Wednesday (8/21). Councilman Matt Dalbey was appointed mayor pro tem while Lazio holds the city administrator job. The Ottumwa City Council also hired attorney Gayla Harrison to work out a severance package with Morris. The Council authorized Lazio and City Attorney Joni Keith to set up a process to hire a new city administrator. The Council then adjourned into closed session to discuss pending litigation. There’s been no comment on whether than litigation would be against Morris.
