Oskaloosa firefighters responded to a pair of calls after 3:30 pm Wednesday. First, they were called to the scene of a grass fire on Plymouth Avenue. The fire burned approximately 10 acres, and firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
Oskaloosa firefighters then were called to the New Sharon area to assist in extinguishing a barn fire on 160th Street southeast of New Sharon. The barn and hay inside were owned by Ron Terpstra, and were deemed a total loss. Firefighters spent about 90 minutes at the scene. No injuries were reported in either fire.
The cause of the fires are still being investigated.
