On this day in 1993, George Strait landed his 23rd Billboard #1 single of his career with “Heartland”.  The song was released as the second single from his album Pure Country. The album was a soundtrack for the movie of the same name.

With the help of “Heartland” and other songs, the album became Strait’s most commercially successful album, having sold over six million copies.
