Lauren Alaina has finally banked her first No. 1 with “Road Less Traveled”. The song reached the top of the charts on the Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after 34 weeks.
The song, co-written by Alaina, Meghan Trainor, and Jessie Frasure, was her sixth entry on to the chart. “Road Less Traveled” is the title track from Alaina’s second LP.
“It feels very weird, almost surreal,” Alaina, 22, tells Billboard of her new leader. “I have been waiting five years for this. I handed in this song four years ago, so seeing it rise to the top feels so good. My goal was top 20 at first, and when it got into the top 10, I wanted to go all the way. Thanks so much to everyone for sticking with me this long.”
Previously on the charts, Alaina had peaked at No. 28 with “Georgia Peaches in 2012.
Looks like Lauren is following in the footsteps of Scotty McCreery, who she was the runner-up to on the 2011 season of American Idol.
