MEET THE H & S FEED & COUNTRY STORE PET OF THE WEEK: “JASPER”

This week’s H & S Feed & Country Store Pet of the Week is “Jasper”, a 7 year old American Staffordshire/Mix. Jasper is great around older kids, cats and people, but not so much with other dogs, so he will need to be the only dog in the home. Jasper’s adoption fee is only $50, he is fully vaccinated and ready to find his forever home.

If you’d like to set up an appointment to meet Jasper or any of the pets at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter, visit https://www.stephenmemorial.org/ and fill out an adoption application.

Dolly Parton Writing First Novel With James Patterson

Just when you thought Dolly Parton has done it all, now she’s writing her first novel. The singer has teamed with well-known author James Patterson to write the book “Run, Rose, Run,” due out March 7, 2022.

And not only that, Dolly will also release an album of original songs inspired by the book to coincide with the novel’s release.

“I cannot be more excited about the release of my very first novel ‘Run, Rose, Run’ with the great James Patterson. I also have a new album to go along with the book,” she tells “People.” “I hope you enjoy the book and the songs as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it all together!”

As for the book it follows a young woman who heads to Nashville to become a star, but has a “brutal secret she has done everything to hide.” “But the past she has fled is reaching out to control her future,” the press release reads, “even if it means destroying everything she has worked for.”

Garth Brooks Signs Acoustic Guitar For Girls At First Concert

First concerts are always special, but thanks to Garth Brooks two young girls had a first concert they will never forget.

At Garth’s Stadium concert in Kansas City, Missouri this past weekend there were two young girls right down in front, thanks to a ticket upgrade. One of the girls was on her dad’s shoulder holding a sign that read “Garth … it’s our 1st concert,” and the singer took notice.

After finding out the girls names began with the letter G, Garth joked, “what has a ’G’ on it that I’m thinking of?,” and then took off his acoustic guitar with a huge “G” on it, signed it and gave it to the family. You can check out the moment here.

Reba McEntire Recovering From Coronavirus

Despite being vaccinated, Reba McEntire came down with coronavirus along with boyfriend Rex Linn.

In a recent TikTok livestream, McEntire said, “I just want to say one thing: this has been a hard year and it’s getting rougher again. You guys, please stay safe. Wear your mask. Do what you have to do. Stay home. It’s not fun to get this. I did get it. Rex and I got it and it’s not fun. You don’t feel good. We were both vaccinated and we still got it, so stay safe, stay home, and be protected the best you can.”

The surge in COVID-19 cases across America is making her double think her plans for upcoming live shows. “I have no idea what plans for next year are. You know, the COVID thing has really hit hard and spikes are going everywhere right now … and it’s all over the country — this new variant. We have plans right now to go back on tour in January, February and March. We have plans with being with Brooks & Dunn at Caesars in December — the first two weeks, almost three weeks of December — but we don’t know if that’s going to go.”

This all comes just days after McEntire announced a postponement of her late mom’s memorial services due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

Trisha Yearwood Scores Most Listened-To Country Song By Female Artist

The most listened to country song by a female artist? Trisha Yearwood’s “She’s In Love With The Boy. This is in the 31 years that MRC Data has been measuring radio audience (so, pretty great data). The song was rose from No. 4 to No. 1 on “Billboard’s Hot Country Songs” on August 3, 1991, where it spend its first two weeks on top.

Exactly 30 years from this date on August 3, 2021, Yearwood is at the Grand Ole Opry (where she was inducted in 1999) to perform and welcome its newest member, Carly Pearce. After this, Yearwood was surprised with a special award to celebrate her song being the most listened to country song by a female artist. The award was given to her by Pearce and Billboard senior vice president of charts and data development Silvio Piertoluongo.

Yearwood opened up saying that she was surprised by this and that she doesn’t “even like surprises. But I was caught completely off-guard by this sweet bombshell. I headed there with the intention of inducting Carly Pearce, which was a first; I have never inducted anyone in the past, so I was focused on that. It was a great honor and then performing with both Carly and Jeannie Seely [an Opry member since 1967]. We did “Making Believe,” the old Kitty Wells’ classic [from 1955]. It was really cool, because the three of us had never performed together and it just seemed very natural.”
