Dolly Parton Donates $1 Million Towards Pediatric Infectious Disease Research

Dolly Parton is once again opening her wallet to help others. The singer just donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University to go towards research for pediatric infectious diseases.

“I love all children,” Dolly shares. “No child should ever have to suffer, and I’m willing to do my part to try and keep as many of them as I can as healthy and safe as possible.”

The money will go to VUMC’s Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, which says it will help in the understanding of “how viruses and bacteria cause disease, understanding and preventing resistance to antibiotics, preventing and treating infections, diagnosing and treating infections in children with cancer and research to define the impact of childhood infections throughout the world.”

This is the second time Dolly has made a $1 million donation to Vanderbilt. In 2020 she donated the same amount to help find a vaccine for COVID.

Thomas Rhett Got Advice From Walker Hayes About Bringing His Kids On The Road

Thomas Rhett officially kicks off his “Bring the Bar to You Tour” and he’s decided not to take the whole family out with him this summer. He came to that decision with the help of Walker Hayes, who gave him some very good advice on the subject.

Thomas said he asked Walker, who has six kids of his own, how he could take his four daughters, all under six, out with him and Walker simply told him “you can’t.”

“Walker‘s kids are older,” Thomas explains. “They can eat by themselves, they can use the bathroom by themselves, they can put themselves to bed. Mine, on the other hand, are kinda all over the place age-wise.”

Thomas does think that his two older daughters, Willa and Ada “are old enough now to travel with me,” because they may let him “sleep until like nine” so they may come out for some shows.

“My whole family will come to like Red Rocks and do some really cool bucket list moment type shows,” he explains. “But for the most part, we’ll be out there writin’ songs, and when the kids do decide to come out we’ll take melatonin.”
