GARTH BROOKS, LAINEY WILSON HEADLINE INAUGURAL SUGAR BOWL COUNTRY KICKOFF CONCERT
Yet another big country music event being added to the calendar that country fans will want to put on their “must not miss” list: The Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff – a brand new event taking place in New Orleans on September 2.
The concept: kick off the college football season with a bang, and this event will definitely do that. While the Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff is occurring months before the Sugar Bowl itself, the Caesars Superdome hopes to make this an annual Labor Day weekend celebration that celebrates the start of college football. The event features a football-themed tailgate before the concert, and then the concert itself – and coming right out of the gate, the Kickoff will feature some of country music’s biggest names: Garth Brooks, Lainey Wilson and the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Lainey made the announcement on her Instagram account – telling fans that tickets go on sale July 21. Prices start at $98.95, including fees – a real bargain for such a star-studded, football centric party.

MORGAN WALLEN CONTINUES TO MAKE MUSIC HISTORY
Morgan Wallen lost no momentum as a result of his doctor-recommended six-week hiatus for vocal rest in May and June. The country star is soon simply going to be referred to as “star” – as he is owning all of music in 2023.
Wallen’s “Last Night” is now the first song in history to amass 1 billion on-demand audio streams in the United States in a single calendar year, so far. The song currently sits at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for its 13th non-consecutive week, marking the longest running #1 on the Hot 100 chart this year. But wait – there’s more!
“Last Night” continues to dominate the charts, claiming the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for an amazing 22 weeks. This ties it for the sixth-longest reign since 1958. The record for the longest-running #1 on the chart is held by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be,” which spent 50 weeks in the top position from 2017 to 2018. The song has also become the No. 1 best-selling song of the year by US units, surpassing Miley Cyrus‘ “Flowers.”
Wallen’s success doesn’t stop there. His album “One Thing At A Time” has claimed the record for the most weeks at #1 on the country album chart in over three decades. Note: the year is only half over. Plenty of time for Morgan to crush more records.
