On Sunday, August 20 around 1:30 PM, the Ottumwa Police Department received a call in reference to a sexual assault in progress. The caller stated that address was 825 W. Second Street.
Members of the Ottumwa Police Department responded to this residence and made contact with a male identified as John Johnston. Officers also located a juvenile, female victim inside the residence. As a result of the investigation, John Michael Johnston, age 20 of Ottumwa was
arrested and charged with the following offenses:
False Imprisonment – Serious Misdemeanor
Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Assault – Aggravated Misdemeanor
Interference with Official Acts – Simple Misdemeanor

No court date is set yet for Johnston.
