It’s a match made in heaven. Marty Stuart broke through in the 80s as a retro-country star, complete with Nudie suits and twangy guitars. Zach Top plays the same role today, bringing a 90s country sound to 2020s country music. When Zach invited Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives to open for him on his current tour, the pairing worked musically…but what about personally? Marty posted an answer to that question. “Hear ye – Hear ye – A word from the Kingdom of Twang – My announcement is… let the universe flip, fly and flop because I have a new pal and his name is Zach Top. It only took about 30 seconds once we finally met and shook hands,” he said on Instagram. “Zach invited me and the Superlatives to join him and his hard hitting orchestra on his current Cold Beer and Country Music Tour. I’m telling you – for anyone who loves real deal country music, Zach and the boys along with the Superlatives is a box of musical dynamite that knocks the cobwebs out of anybody’s town,” he wrote. “Unapologetic twang – backed by the Archangels of Hillbilly Heaven.” Sounds like they’re getting along just fine.
