An Oskaloosa man was arrested for a disturbance in a store parking lot. Oskaloosa Police were called around 2:20 Wednesday afternoon (4/29) to Orscheln Farm and Home about a man pointing a gun at other people. On their way to the store, officers found the suspect in a vehicle in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue East. 44-year-old Joshua Todd was found with a handgun. Investigators learned that there was a minor physical altercation between Todd and another person before the gun was displayed. Todd was arrested for three counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.

Inaugural ‘Iowa’s Ride’ cancels due to pandemic
The first edition of “Iowa’s Ride” has been canceled due to safety concerns over COVID-19.
Iowa’s Ride was scheduled to start July 12th in Dubuque, with stops in Monticello, Vinton, Eldora, Clarion, Emmetsburg, Sheldon and Rock Rapids during the week-long event. The ride’s director says it would not be safe or feasible to have the ride this year due to health risks. People who signed up for the ride may request a refund of their registration through May 15th.
Iowa’s Ride was launched by the former director of the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. RAGBRAI has already canceled this year’s event because of the pandemic.

Missing Ottumwa boy found safe
Here’s an update to a story the No Coast Network has been following. A missing 10-year-old boy from Ottumwa has been found and is back with his family. Ottumwa Police say around 7 Thursday night (4/30), Deontae Renken was found a short distance from his home…and he appeared to be in good health. Deontae was reported missing Wednesday afternoon (4/29).
New Sharon woman charged with murder
A woman from New Sharon is charged with first degree murder in the death of her husband. The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office tells the No Coast Network they were called shortly before 10am Wednesday about a possible homicide. Around 12:15 that afternoon, the body of a dead adult male was found at a home in the 2400 block of 135th Street in rural New Sharon. Court documents say 69-year-old Carol Ann Davis of New Sharon told a Sheriff’s Deputy she had shot her husband, Steve Davis, in the head on Sunday morning. She told investigators that she shot her husband in his sleep after he complained of issues at work and asked her to shoot him once he fell asleep. Carol Ann Davis is charged with first degree murder and is being held on $1 million cash only bond. She is being held in the Mahaska County Jail.
Luke Combs Performing Livestream To Benefit Bartenders & Waitstaff
Luke Combs is using his music to help out folks in the service industry. The singer is set to headline a livestream on his social media accounts tomorrow at 8 pm ET to raise money for bartenders and waitstaff whose livelihood have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
ONE MORE THING! As we told you, Luke recently performed the new song “Six Feet Apart” on his Instagram account, and now he’s officially recorded. The singer shared it will be officially released tomorrow.
On this day in 1999: Jo Dee Messina flexes her acting chops
Today in 1999, Jo Dee Messina appeared on CBS TV’s Nash Bridges as “Tammy McGraw.” In the episode, Nash was trying to track down a group of female robbers, whom he suspected as being manipulated by their jailed husbands. In the process, he goes to Jo Dee’s character for help. Besides acting in the show, Jo Dee also performed her hit single, “Lesson In Leavin’.”
Beware of wind
Part of the No Coast Network listening area will be under a Wind Advisory Wednesday afternoon (4/29). Jasper, Marion, Monroe, Mahaska, Wapello and Poweshiek Counties will have a wind advisory beginning at noon until 7pm because of strong northwest winds. Those winds will have gusts up to 45 miles an hour. Tree limbs and power lines could be blown down by those strong winds…and if you drive a high profile vehicle, use caution.
Cunningham hired as Osky girls varsity basketball coach
At Tuesday’s (4/28) Oskaloosa School Board meeting, Terrance (TC) Cunningham was hired as the new girls’ varsity basketball coach. Cunningham has been an assistant with the girls’ team for the past three seasons…and prior to that was an assistant with the boys’ team for two years. Cunningham replaces Jacie White, who resigned in March.
