YANG CAMPAIGNS IN OSKALOOSA

Yang campaigns in Oskaloosa

Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang made several campaign stops in the area on Saturday (1/4). He was in Knoxville, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa.   Among the questions Yang was asked Saturday in Oskaloosa was his reaction to last week’s US airstrike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.  Yang says the US should have kept its agreement with Iran.

“If I were President, we never would have pulled out of that agreement and we never would have been in this position.  And certainly, if you are going to take action, then you need to consult with other parts of the government, including Congress.”

Yang also says the US must work to prevent climate change or global warming.  But he wouldn’t go as far as former Vice President Joe Biden did last week when Biden said he wouldn’t hesitate to end thousands of jobs in the fossil fuel industry.

“Telling thousands of coal miners that they should learn to code is not helpful or productive.  Instead, we should be putting economic resources directly into our people’s hands and then we would see many new businesses and opportunities arise based upon what we want to do and the work that we’re doing every single day.”

A new C-B-S poll of likely Iowa Caucus-goers released Sunday found Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg tied here with 23 percent support, followed by Elizabeth Warren with 16 percent and Amy Klobuchar with seven percent.
