Yang campaigns in Oskaloosa & Pella

Democratic Presidential contender Andrew Yang was in Oskaloosa and Pella Saturday as he continues to campaign prior to next week’s Iowa Caucuses.  One thing other Democrats have proposed is removing the Electoral College as a way of deciding who is elected President.  Yang says he wants the Electoral College to stay in place.

“Amending or abolishing the Electoral College would require a supermajority of states, many of which would have to vote against their own electoral interests.  And even if you were to succeed in getting rid of the Electoral College, the impact would be very negative for many rural communities, because candidates and campaigns would naturally center around densely populated urban areas.”

Yang did say he wants the Electoral College to be proportionate for each candidate, rather than winner take all.
