The woman made about a 25-foot climb from the monument’s observation point yesterday forcing the evacuation of the monument.  About 100 feet above ground, the woman alternated between sitting and laying by the bottom of the statue’s robe for more than 2 hours. Standing on a ladder and a ledge nearby, the police tried talking the woman down but in the end climbed up themselves to reach the her.
