Crude Oil Summary

• The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $8.19 per barrel, and is currently priced at $104.01.
• Brent crude oil rose by $6.83 and is currently priced at $107.62.
• One year ago, WTI crude sold for $64.89 and Brent crude was $69.69.

Motor Fuels

• As of Wednesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $4.11 across Iowa according to AAA.
  • Prices rose 5 cents from last week’s price and are up $1.20 from a year ago.
  • The national average on Wednesday was $4.36, up 14 cents from last week’s price.
• Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 41 cents this week with a statewide average of $6.12.
  • One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.51 in Iowa.
  • The current Iowa diesel price is 19 cents lower than the national average of $6.31.
• The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $3.36 for U87-E10, $4.09 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $5.30 for ULSD#2, $5.58 for ULSD#1, and $2.65 per gallon for E-70 prices.

Heating Fuels

• Natural gas prices were up 10 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $2.95 MMbtu.
• We will continue reporting retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa in October.
