Here we go again kids… With another favorite “alt-country” artist of mine, John Hiatt!
As an artist, you may not be familiar with John Hiatt, but it’s a pretty sure bet you’ve heard his songs. Bonnie Raitt’s “A Thing Called Love”, Suzy Bogguss’ “Drive South”, and Jeff Healey’s “Angel Eyes” are just a few.
John Hiatt grew up in Indianapolis, and found music after losing both his brother and his father by the age of 13. He was signed to the Epic label in 1973, and achieved greater (albeit still not mainstream) success in the late 1980s and 1990s.
Hiatt is a superb and often very amusing showman. Here’s a rockin’ live performance of “Memphis In The Meantime” with slide guitar legend Sonny Landreth:
