Sunday was a big day for three big presences in country music. The Country Music Hall Of Fame officially welcomed the Class of 2024: Toby Keith, John Anderson and guitarist James Burton. Keith entered in the Modern Era category, Anderson was the Veteran Era inductee, and Burton was in the Recording/Touring Musician category. Anderson had a huge run of hits in the 80s and 90s, including “Swingin’,” “Straight Tequila Night” and “Seminole Wind,” among many others. Burton was a studio and touring legend, playing on albums by Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and Emmylou Harris, among countless others. He was also a member of Elvis Presley‘s touring band for almost a decade. And of course, there was Toby Keith, the larger than life presence that supplied much of the country soundtrack from the 90s to the 2010s.
