A Women, Wine & Whiskey luncheon and workshop will be held by the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce at the Bridge View Center on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Women’s Panel to include: Mary Stewart, running for a local state and senate seat; Sheri Lock, local philanthropic; Stevie Nelson-Witt, former military intelligence and Colorado Highway Patrol; and Meliha Cavkusic, Executive Director of the Ottumwa Housing Authority.

Oskaloosa Women’s Connection Invites Men for Session

The Oskaloosa Women’s Connection is bringing in a guest for the one time a year men are invited to attend their meeting on Monday, March 12 at 6:30 PM at the Peppertree Restaurant. An overview of the history of Oskaloosa will be presented by John Jacobs, a local historian. Speakers will be Dave and Arlene Gabielson. Music will be provided by Rex McFall on the harmonica. Despite Government Shutdown, WIC Runs As Usual

According to Cindy Meiners of the American Home Finding Association, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (known to most as WIC) is currently up and running “as usual”. WIC clinics are open for appointments and participants may use their WIC cards as they would normally use them.

“Because of the government shutdown, some may think that WIC has shut down,” Meiners says. “However, we are still open at this time.”
