Shooting Investigation Underway in Washington, Iowa

(WASHINGTON, Iowa) – At approximately 6:50 PM on March 28, 2018 the Washington County Communications Center received a report of a shooting at 106 South Avenue B in Washington, Iowa.

Emergency personnel from the Washington Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington County Ambulance all responded to the residence. One subject was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

An investigation is being conducted by the Washington Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The condition of the victim is not being released at this time and law enforcement does not believe there is any danger to the public. No further information will be released until after the investigation is completed.

Law Enforcement Seeks Information After Commercial Burglary

(WASHINGTON COUNTY, Iowa) – Law enforcement in Washington County are looking to the public for information about individuals possessing stolen credit cards after a commercial burglary on or around March 5.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports via a news release that the credit cards were stolen and that they were able to obtain security camera images from businesses in the Wilton and Walcott area where these credit cards were used. It is unclear if law enforcement know how the cards were stolen and no other information was made available at the time of the press release.

Anyone with any information on the identity of these individuals or a description of the vehicle they are using are urged by law enforcement to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 319-653-2107 or their tip line at 800-847-7492.
