OTTUMWA – An Ottumwa man now faces a murder charge after a man died from injuries sustained in a shooting last week.

The Ottumwa Police Department reported that the shooting occurred on Wednesday, September 16, at approximately 5:30 PM. Law enforcement was advised that a man had been shot inside the trailer park located at 1405 Albia Road in Ottumwa.

The shooting victim was identified as 19-year-old Cameron Joseph Downen of Ottumwa, and Downen was reported to be in critical condition following this incident. The Ottumwa Police Department has confirmed that Downen passed away on Friday, September 18, due to the injuries he sustained in the incident.

19-year-old Donovan Joseph Wilson was arrested later in the evening in which the shooting took place and charged with 1st Degree Burglary and Attempt to Commit Murder. He now faces the additional charge of 1st Degree Murder, a Class A felony.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
