OTTUMWA – An Ottumwa man was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of drugs and used needles.

Court documents state that 30-year-old Zackary Williams was subject to a K-9 unit search near the intersection of North Elm Street and Oakwood Avenue on Saturday, July 25, at around 11:20 AM. During the search, the K-9 unit detected the presence of illegal narcotics in Williams’ vehicle.

Williams was found to be in possession of “numerous” used hypodermic needles that contained a liquid substance that was later determined to be methamphetamine. Additionally, a plastic baggie containing about 10.6 grams of methamphetamine was found in one of Williams’ pockets, an amount that police say is more common with delivery than personal use.

Williams was taken into custody and charged with two felonies, including Controlled Substance Violation (Class B felony) and Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp (Class D felony). He remains lodged in the Wapello County Jail.
