Ottumwa Man Arrested Following Trailer Park Shooting

OTTUMWA – An Ottumwa man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting another man in a trailer park.

According to the Ottumwa Police Department, on Wednesday, September 16, at approximately 5:30 PM, law enforcement received a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot inside the trailer park located at 1405 Albia Road. Dispatch also received a different 911 call from a private vehicle that was being used to transport a victim to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

The victim was identified as 19-year-old Cameron Joseph Downen of Ottumwa. He was shot during this incident and was eventually flown to a hospital in Iowa City for treatment of his injuries. Downen’s condition was described as critical.

At 7:05 PM, officers with the Ottumwa Police Department arrested 19-year-old Donovan Joseph Wilson in connection to this incident. Wilson now faces two Class B felony charges, including 1st Degree Burglary and Attempt to Commit Murder.
