An Ottumwa man is in custody after Police say he broke into a home and fired a shot at one of the homeowners. The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office says around 11pm last Thursday (6/17), the homeowners of a residence in the 3000 block of Lake Road called 911….saying an intruder had entered the home and fired a gunshot at one of the homeowners.  The homeowners said they didn’t know who the intruder was.  Then on Friday afternoon (6/18), deputies located 38-year-old Jeffery Michael Huffman on 30^th Street in Ottumwa…. near where the shooting took place.  After an interview with investigators, Huffman admitted to entering the home with a shotgun.  He has been arrested for attempted murder, first degree burglary, going armed with intent and possession of meth—with additional charges pending.  Huffman is being held on $250,000 bond in the Wapello County Jail.
