OSKALOOSA EMERGENCY PERSONNEL RESPONDED TO SUSPICIOUS SUBSTANCE AT MAHASKA

Oskaloosa Emergency Personnel Responded To Suspicious Substance At Mahaska

On Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at approximately 3:50 p.m. the Oskaloosa Police Department, Oskaloosa Fire Department, Mahaska County Hazmat and Mahaska County Emergency Management responded to Mahaska at 1407 17th Avenue East in reference to a letter that was received by an employee that contained a suspicious white powdery substance and a threatening note. The powdery substance in the envelope was tested at the scene by the Army National Guard 71st Civil Support Unit who determined the substance to be non-threatening or harmful to the public.
Due to the nature of this incident the continuing investigation will include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Postal Inspectors Office and the Oskaloosa Police Department.
