(OSKALOOSA, Iowa) – Vashti Nwagbaraocha (Jr., Milwaukee, Wis., Exercise Science) is thus far perfect in her outdoor track and field season and her efforts were rewarded as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week Monday.

Nwagbaraocha won her first career award by not only topping the high jump field at the Central Weather Saver Invitational, but also breaking the school record and qualifying for nationals in the process.

Her jump of 5-6 broke a program mark that had stood since 2007 and also met the automatic-qualifying standard. The junior currently ranks first in the Heart and second in the entire NAIA.

The award is the second for the women’s program this year.
