No Formal Charges Filed Against Man Suspected Of Fatally Shooting Police Officers Yet

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police say no formal charges have been filed yet against the man suspected of fatally shooting two police officers in Iowa, but that he remains hospitalized. Investigators say 46-year-old Scott Michael Greene turned himself into authorities Wednesday, just hours after the killings. Police said early Thursday that Greene remains hospitalized for treatment of an existing medical condition and that an update on the case would come later in the day.

The man suspected of fatally shooting two Iowa police officers had been ordered by a judge to move out of his mother’s home just hours earlier. Court documents show a judge ruled Tuesday that 46-year-old Scott Greene had committed elder abuse against his mother by “hitting and financially exploiting” her. Investigators say Greene is suspected in the ambush-style attacks early Wednesday that killed two officers.
